About Me
I’ve been called the best video editor in Cleveland, and while I don’t know about that, I do think my work speaks for itself. I’ve been cutting videos since 2000 when the first X-Men movie came out, and I just had to make my own X-Men story (yes, a copy of this movie still exists!). Throughout high school and college I continued to make short films with friends. In 2012, I began my professional career as an editor and haven’t looked back since. Visual effects always played a key role in the majority of projects I worked on in those early days and being a sci-fi nerd, I was drawn to them. So, in tandem with honing my editing skills, I worked on my compositing skills, starting in After Effects and transitioning to Nuke shortly thereafter. I’ve been compositing in Nuke since 2014.
I’m often asked which I prefer, compositing or editing. The honest answer is I have a very hard time choosing, anytime I’m editing exclusively for an extending period, I crave compositing. And the reverse is true too.
As a video editor, I keep story at the front of mind. The editors key role is to craft a cohesive and flowing story. The edit determines so much of the story, holding back and giving in just the right places to elevate the story. This is true whether it’s a 30-second commercial or a 30-minute film. In order to work well it has to be cohesive.
As a compositor, the story still plays a role, making sure that every elemnt functions within the shot and the greater overall story. Ensuring that all the elements work seamlessly to allow the viewer to inhabit the story.
So, whether you’re in Cleveland, in Ohio, or on the other side of the world and you’re looking for a video editor or compositor for your next project who has drive and passion, then you’ve found your man. Email me today.
